Shopping at the Mall
Again, what may seem to be a standard task can really be a learning experience for you and your child. Not only will your child begin to learn about the necessary procedures for shopping, he/she will also feel a part of a larger community. Here are some ways you can use this trip to bond with and inform your child on important lessons:
1. Encourage your child to look for their needed size on the rack, reading different numbers and measurements
2. Teach your child important information to seek help if they get lost, such as parents’ full names, phone numbers, and addresses
3. Increase your child’s interest in errands by asking them where they would like to stop first on the to-do list
4. Have your child check off certain errands once completed, giving them a sense of accomplishment in completing tasks.
